Applications of PM2.5 Sensors and VOC Sensors in Air Purifiers

Home, sweet home. When we are at home, we feel safe, relaxed and beloved. However, due to the worsening air pollution, our homes are being threatened by harmful matters like VOC, haze and PM2.5. Cannot breathe fresh air, we are not as healthy and happy as we used to be before.

To solve this problem, air purifiers are developed and introduced to people’s dwellings. They pump fresh and clean air into houses and safeguard people’s health.

How PM2.5 and VOC Sensors Power Air Purifiers

Modern air purifiers rely critically on integrated sensor technology to detect threats. PM2.5 sensors use laser scattering to continuously monitor fine particulate matter (≤2.5 microns) from smoke, dust, and outdoor pollution. When levels exceed safety thresholds, they automatically trigger HEPA filtration cycles. VOC sensors employ metal oxide semiconductors to detect invisible chemical emissions from paints, cleaners, and furnishings. These alert the system to activate carbon filters that adsorb harmful gases like formaldehyde and benzene. This dual-sensing capability transforms purifiers from passive filters into intelligent guardians that dynamically respond to both particulate and gaseous pollutants.
